Its not unheard of that an HP ILO (Integrated Lights Out) can become sick and slow down to a crawl. When this occurs, a restart of the ILO is in order, which is easily accomplished via the ILO cli interface. Note that you need to make sure that that you have enabled ssh access in ilo.
The steps to reset an ilo via ssh are below.
</>hpiLO-> cd /map1
status=0
status_tag=COMMAND COMPLETED</map1>hpiLO-> reset
status=0
status_tag=COMMAND COMPLETED

will reset ilo caused server O/S to reboot?

If the above reset cli method doesnt work you need to hard reboot the server.
1. Turn OFF your Server.
2. Disconnect the Power supply unit (PSU) and Power supply cables from server.
3. After 2 -3 minutes, press and hold the Server Power button for 45 seconds.
4. Do not Turn ON server now.
5. Wait for 2-3 minutes, connect the Power supply and Power cable back to the server.
6. Do not turn ON server now.
7. Turn ON Server after 1-2 minutes.
8. After about 1-2 minutes the ILO should be ready for use.

What’s the purpose of pressing/holding the power button after disconnecting the power cables?
That’s standard practice: it discharges all the capacitors on the motherboard, ensuring it *really* powers off completely.
